Conference Awards

ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College club baseball program received national and conference weekly awards recognition this week after the Bulldogs swept non-conference foe Akron at home by scores of 5-1 and 6-0 on Saturday at Nicolay Field.

For the second time this fall, senior Mark Cash (Belleville, Mich. / New Boston Huron High School) is the national pitcher of the week in Division 2 by the Pittsburgh-based National Club Baseball Association. He also is the Northern Plains East Region Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Cash continues to be the ace of the Bulldogs pitching staff as he tossed his third straight shutout to zip the Akron Zips by six runs. He scattered seven hits, struck out seven and walked one in going the distance of seven innings.

In addition, senior second baseman/outfielder Tyler Roushia (Bryan, Ohio) picked up NPERC Hitter of the Week after going 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored against Akron.

"I think it is great that our guys are being recognized for their outstanding play on the field," said second-year Adrian head coach Brent Greenwood '14. "Tyler has been consistent for us in the top of the lineup for a year-and-a-half now. A force at the plate, he is currently hitting .615 this fall through 11 games!

"Mark ended last season with an 8-0 record on the mound and has picked up right where he left off posting a 4-0 record so far this fall."

All told, Adrian Club Baseball has been recognized three times for NCBA honors at the national level: Cash also on Oct. 3 of this year and senior Shane Carney who was the Division 3 Player of the Week for Oct. 30, 2017.

The 2017-18 NCBA Division 3 World Series champion Adrian Bulldogs are playing in their first season at the Division 2 level of the NCBA organization. Adrian will take a 9-2 record (4-1 in the NPERC) into the spring season, which starts on March 16-17 against conference opponent Toledo at The Nic.

The NCBA, founded in 2000, is the national body that governs club baseball at colleges and universities in the United States, providing a national structure for non-varsity teams at the NCAA and NAIA levels. The organization runs the NCBA College World Series national championship series, compiles playing statistics, assists teams in fundraising, and arranges for discounts on baseball clothing and equipment.
