ACHA Women Keep Rolling with 5-2 Triumph Over Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--The Adrian College ACHA Division I women's hockey team rolled to its fifth straight win on Friday night, as the Bulldogs swept their two game series with Davenport on the strength of a 5-2 victory on the road in Grand Rapids.

Since their 1-0 win over #2 ranked Miami on October 18th, the #3 ranked Bulldogs have swept Penn State and Davenport on successive weekends to run their record to 8-2.

Davenport started strong on their home ice, grabbing an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Victoria Dubac, but freshman forward Kaillie Hardy tied the score with a power play goal late in the 1st period.

Davenport took the lead for a second time in period two, this time on a goal by Adrienne Porcalla, but the game was again was tied by Hardy, who converted a penalty shot to give Adrian the equalizer.

In the third period the Bulldogs came out firing, as junior forward Alicia Tait scored the game winner at the 10:32 mark, igniting a 3 goal scoring barrage in a five minute two second span which saw both freshman forward Sam Fortune and junior defender Paige Fucco slip pucks past Dawn Salo, who made 23 saves in a losing effort for Davenport.

Hardy had huge night for the Bulldogs, scoring 5 points on the evening bringing her season point total to a team leading 15 points for the year. Senior goalie Ellyn Stanton made 15 save in the Bulldog goal to earn her fourth win of the season against no defeat.

After taking a week off, Adrian will now try to extend their winning streak to six when the travel to Grand Valley State to begin a home and home series with the Lakers starting at Grand Valley on Friday night at 7 p.m.
