ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 women's hockey program put its No. 2 national ranking on the line this past weekend when the Bulldogs hosted the fifth-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers at Arrington Ice Arena. The Bulldogs came away with impressive wins of 7-2 and 6-1.
In game one on Friday, Britt Levasseur provided a huge game for the Bulldogs, scoring four times against the Gophers with one goal in the first and second periods, as well as two in the third. Adrian also got a first period from Kyleen Wilson, second period marker from Taylor Murcek and third period goal from Danica Polson. Minnesota’s goals were scored by Livia Twohig and Kristina Anderson.
In game two on Saturday, the Bulldogs used a more balanced attack to subdue the Golden Gophers. Adrian started the scoring with the only goal of the first period off the stick of Kirstin LaBelle. Twohig tied the game for Minnesota midway through the second, but Adrian retook the lead on goals by Wilson and Maddy Arnold.
In the third period the Bulldogs distanced themselves from the Gophers on goals by Polson and two straight by Jessie Rushing.
The wins over the Golden Gophers pushed Adrian’s winning streak to ten in a row and its record now stands at 19-1-1, heading next week to No. 6-ranked Lindenwood-Belleville for a two-game series on Friday and Saturday.
