KENT, Ohio--The Adrian College ACHA Division 1 men's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Kent State on Saturday night, picking up its first road win of the season with a 5-0 blanking of the Golden Flashes in Kent, Ohio.
Brad Kobryn started the scoring in the second period with his sixth goal of the season with an assist from Mike Finger. The goal was an historic one for Kobryn, giving him 132 goals and 65 assists for 197 career points, breaking the team record of 196 which had previously belonged to Spencer Bonomo. Kobryn would later add an assist to bring his point total to 198 all-time.
J.P. Grineau added a goal to make the score 3-0 before the second intermission and the Bulldogs added 3rd period goals by Mark Fratarcangeli and Marcus Rose. The final goal made it a three point night for Rose, who had assists on both the Grineau and Fratarcangeli goals.
Austyn Rodebush earned his third win of the campaign recording his first shutout by turning back 21 shots from the Golden Flashes. Alex Okicki took the loss for Kent State making 33 saves, as the Bulldogs outshot the Golden Flashes 38-21.
The nationally fourth-ranked Bulldogs will return home next weekend when they face-off against No. 9 Robert Morris-Illinois in a two-game series at Arrington Ice Arena. The series will begin on Friday night at 7:30 and will conclude on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. contest.
