ACHA Division 1 Men's Hockey Tabs Senior Defenseman Archie McKinnon Captain for 2017-18 Team

ADRIAN, Mich.--Adrian College's American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 men's program is proud to announce that defenseman Archie McKinnon has been named team captain for the 2017-18 season.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound senior-to-be hails from Rossland, British Columbia, Canada, and he has been a vital part of the team's previous success the last three years.

"Archie is a 'lead by example' type of person," stated head coach Gary Astalos, who in his first season led the Bulldogs to a team-record 33 victories (against just three losses) and an ACHA National Semifinals appearance. "He is always working hard and always puts the team first; we couldn't be happier to have him lead our club next season."

McKinnon is referred as a 'stay at home" blueliner, logging 67 games in his first three years while tallying three goals and 15 assists. The mathematics (education) major's long reach and high hockey IQ make him extremely valuable on the team's penalty kill.

The team will announce its assistant captains after training camp in early September.

McKinnon will lead a group that is scheduled to return 22 student-athletes off last year's squad that captured the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League regular-season title with a 15-1 league slate, won all 19 of its contests on home-ice and finished fourth in the ACHA national rankings.
