HOW IT HAPPENED

The first half did not go Adrian's way as the Bulldogs were outscored 42-11. Trine scored 25 straight points and held AC without a score for 10 minutes until freshman guard Caleb Ballentine hit a three with three seconds remaining in the half. The Thunder's defense was stingy in the first, holding the Black and Gold to an 11.5% shooting rate and 7.7% from deep. Trine meanwhile shot 60% to open the game.

Adrian's offense came alive in the second half and put up 42 points but it wasn't enough to comeback as Trine scored another 52 to win the game 94-53. The Bulldogs shot 51.9% from the floor in the second half but the Thunder stayed hot and dropped their shots in at a 67.7% clip for a game total of 63.9% to Adrian's 32.1%. AC took more attempts from deep, but only connected on 4 of its 24 three-pointers as Trine went 11-21 to shoot 52.4% from deep. Turnovers also killed the 'Dawgs, with Adrian turning the ball over 20 times to Trine's 10. The Thunder's bigs controlled the paint too, outscoring the Bulldogs 44-22 in the lane.

TOP DOGS

• Junior forward Jeremy Kalonji scored 19 points, the most from any player in the game. Classmate Tre'Shon Heard was the only other Bulldog scorer with double digits, dropping in 14 points.

THE OPPOSITION

• Pete Smith led Trine with 18 points while Langston Johnson scored 14 and Ellis Cummings added 12.

• Cummings led the Thunder with six rebounds, with Johnson and Sean Corcoran each picking up five.
