BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--One day after being honored as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week, Adrian College senior wide receiver Jerron McGaw (Indianapolis, Ind. / Thomas Carr Howe High School) has been recognized at the national level for his record-setting performance during Week 2 against Buffalo State. McGaw was named late Monday to the D3football.com Team of the Week to signal his second citation from the organization (also Nov. 7 of last season).
McGaw had a significant impact in Adrian's 56-27 home-opening victory against Buffalo State, torching the Bengals' secondary for game- and personal highs of 13 receptions and 256 yards to go along with a school-record five touchdown catches. The 256 yards are the most in NCAA Division III so far and second in all Divisions behind Bryce Nunnelly of FCS Chattanooga who had 268 in a contest. McGaw tied Nathan Hartline's school record of five TD receptions, set on Sep. 6, 2014 at Defiance College.
For the season, McGaw is among national leaders in receiving TDs (T-1st, 5), receiving yards (5th, 354) and receptions per game (25th, 8.5).
Adrian will play at Aurora University in Illinois in Saturday (2 p.m. Eastern) for the MIAA-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Challenge.
