STEVENS POINT, Wis.--Sophomore Trevor Boyd scored two goals, including the go-ahead tally in the third period, and classmate Kevin Entmaa made a career-best 39 saves as Adrian College doubled up defending champion Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 6-3, in the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship Quarterfinals on Saturday evening.

As a result, the Bulldogs are advancing to their third "final four" since 2011 next weekend in Utica, N.Y.

TOP 'DAWGS
= Boyd finished with two goals and an assist.

= Junior Kyle Brothers and sophomore Connor Armour had two assists apiece.

= Entmaa turned aside 39 of 42 shots he faced, including stopping all 15 in the third period when UWSP went scoreless.

THE OPPOSITION
= Tanner Karty had a goal and an assist.

= Willem Nong-Lambert chipped in two assists.

= UWSP, which won 55 of 82 face-offs, was led in the dot by Jacob Barber (17-29), Karty (11-15) and Austin Kelly (10-10).

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian's power-play was lethal tonight by connecting on 4 of 8 opportunities for a 50.0 percent clip, starting with the first goal of the game by Boyd 6 minutes and 44 seconds in. 

= But 55 seconds later, Logan Fredericks equalized.

= Junior captain Mathew Thompson put Adrian back on top, 2-1, with 19 seconds left in the first period while enjoying a 5-on-3 power play. Thompson was 11-for-18 at the face-off dot.

= Adrian's first power play opportunity to begin the second period also resulted in a goal, this time off the stick of freshman Dino Balsamo at the 6:28 mark.

= Trailing 3-1, the Pointers managed to tie it before the end of the second-period buzzer. Karty tallied on the power play and Kyle Sharkey found the back of the net about 5 minutes apart, beginning at 14:58.

= Adrian took control in the decisive third period despite getting outshot 15-8, but outscoring UWSP 3-0. With the score 3-all, Boyd scored the game-winning goal, unassisted, at the 6:18 mark.

= The Bulldogs would get insurance scores later in the period from sophomore Cory Dunn and senior Austin Hervey to put the game out of reach.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian win the season series 2-1-1 over the Pointers and each team has won six games with one meeting ending in a tie.

= With the win, Adrian improves to 4-6 in seven all-time appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

= These two teams also met for the 2016 NCAA Quarterfinals in Adrian, where the Pointers won 5-2 on their way to the national championship in Lake Placid, N.Y.

= Hervey has played in 99 games in his Adrian career, which includes 27 goals and 25 assists for 52 total points.

= Boyd (18g, 17a), Dunn (9g, 26a) and Brothers (8g, 27a) are tied for first with a team-leading 35 points. 

= Entmaa's previous career-high of 36 saves came on Jan. 3, 2016, at Oswego State.

= He also is 15-6-2 on the season, setting a personal record for victories. Entmaa went 14-1 during the 2015-16 campaign.
