Men's Hockey Widens No. 1 National Ranking as the Bulldogs Enter the Postseason

ADRIAN, Mich.--Adrian College wrapped up its regular season with another week atop the NCAA Division III college hockey world. The Bulldog men are ranked No. 1 in the Minneapolis-based U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO.com) poll for the fourth consecutive week and increased their top billing in the Bloomington, Minn.-based D3hockey.com national poll for the third time in a row. The Bulldogs received 17 first-place votes among 297 points from a USCHO.com panel of panel of coaches and hockey writers from across the country. According to a D3hockey.com vote of Sports Information Directors and media members nationwide, Adrian earned season highs of 297 points and 18 votes for first place.

Adrian is the Peters Cup champion for the fourth-straight season and, as a result, will be the No. 1 overall seed in the 2018 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup Playoffs. The Bulldogs will seek their eighth conference postseason title when the Harris Cup commences this weekend as Milwaukee School of Engineering invades Arrington Ice Area on Friday at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday at 3:05 p.m. Get tickets online!

The Bulldogs (21-4 overall) finished with a 17-1 South Division mark for 34 points to earn its 10 regular season conference championship. Adrian's 13-game winning streak is currently the longest in the nation, men's or women's, all NCAA Divisions. The MSOE Raiders are 11-12-2 overall and finished in third place in the NCHA South with 15 points. The Bulldogs twice beat MSOE during the regular season, winning 3-1 on Jan. 19 in Milwaukee, Wis., and 6-0 last Friday in Adrian. AC has begun a new calendar year undefeated, untied for the first time since 2008-09 (17-0).

Senior captain Mathew Thompson (14+12) and junior defenseman Cory Dunn (3+23) lead the team with 26 points apiece. Senior assistant captain Taylor McCloy (25 points) and junior Trevor Boyd (24 points) are tied for the team goal-scoring lead with 15. Dunn also paces AC with 23 assists. Junior goalie Kevin Entmaa has compiled a 13-2 won-lost record with 1.73 goals-against average and .936 save percentage.
