Bulldogs Double Up Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Adrian College men's lacrosse team traveled to a quality Carthage College squad on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 10-5 victory. Carthage lost for just the second time in 10 games this season while the Bulldogs improved to 5-2.

The game featured just four penalties as Adrian had three for 1:30 and Carthage had one for one minute. The Bulldogs were 0-for-1 in man-up's while Carthage was 1-for-3. Adrian had a distinct advantage in ground balls with a 38-22 margin while the face-off's were close with Carthage winning 10 and the Bulldogs claiming nine.

Both teams played to a 2-2 tie after the first quarter and had a busy second quarter with Adrian holding a 4-2 advantage for a 6-4 halftime lead. The Bulldog defense allowed just one goal in the second half which came at 3:27 of the third quarter. Adrian scored the last four goals of the game to put away the win including a 3-0 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Senior goalkeeper Kevin Lerg stopped 12 shots to earn the win in net. Freshman Eric Fannell scored two goals and added one assist. Mitch Burgin scored four times on four shots on net. Doug Boyd tallied a goal and two assists. Nicholas Frontczak came off the bench to record six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Brendan Harvey, Nick Karapas and Tom Thielman also scored a goal for the Bulldogs.
