Two-Time NWCA Scholar All-American Zach Rieger Honored on Senior Night

ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College men's wrestling team lost its home finale to Alma College, 35-15, on Friday evening at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.

At the midpoint of the match, senior co-captain Zach Rieger, senior Kassidy Block on the Adrian women's wrestling squad and members of the Bulldogs cheerleading team were honored on Senior Night for their contributions to the College. Rieger wrapped up the evening with a forfeit win at 285-pounds.

Other Bulldog winners included junior co-captain Dominic Paterra at 133 pounds and sophomore Dylan Steward at 157. Paterra got Adrian on the scoreboard after a 6-3 decision over Chase Beecher to cut the deficit to 6-3 on the match score. Steward pinned Gus Richter in 3 minutes and 16 seconds to make it 16-9 Alma.

But the Scots took control when they reeled off four straight wins led by pins by Austin Fox at 174 (2:55) and Taylor McPhail at 197 (0:54). Brendan Ladd also had a pinfall victory for Alma at 141 in 32 seconds. 

Adrian is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Mid-States Conference Tournament hosted by Manchester University in North Manchester, Ind. The event starts at 9 a.m.
