Bulldogs Fall to Visiting Olivet, 52-43, in MIAA Women's Basketball Affair

ADRIAN, Mich.--Sophomore Angelina Goosby led all scorers with a season-high 13 points, but it wasn't enough as the Adrian College women's basketball team dropped a 52-43 decision Saturday at the hands of visiting Olivet College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action.

THE BASICS

TOP 'DAWGS
= Freshman Sha'Trice Graves led Adrian with 10 rebounds off the bench. She also had two steals and two blocked shots.

= Junior Ashley Morris added 11 points and five rebounds.

= Goosby also led all student-athletes with three steals.  

THE OPPOSITION
= Grace Clark, Shawnee Dame and Sydnee Dennis each scored 11 points to pace the Comets. Dame also dished five assists to pace all players.

= Fayth Talbert pulled down a game-best 12 rebounds and chipped in eight points to go along with four blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Olivet held Adrian to 28.1 percent field goal shooting (16-57) and outscored the Bulldogs 17-6 off turnovers (Adrian posted 14 miscues).

= With 17 offensive rebounds, the Comets got 14 second-chance points.

= Adrian never led in the contest, which had one tie when Goosby made a pair of free throws to make it 2-2.

= Olivet led 17-11 after one quarter, 28-25 at the half and 41-35 after three.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Goosby also had 13 points on Dec. 30 at Defiance earlier this season.

= Today was Adrian's annual Think Pink game to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The Bulldogs' alumnae game was cancelled due to nine inches of snow that fell in the Adrian area yesterday.

= The Bulldogs lead the MIAA with four players in the rebounding top-20: sophomore Aly Kubik (12th with 6.0 rebounds per game), Goosby (16th with 5.5), Morris (17th with 5.4) and Graves (18th with 5.2).

= Adrian and Olivet split their season series, with the former winning 75-59 in Olivet on Jan. 17 behind a school-record .611 three-point field goal percentage (11 of 18). The Bulldogs, who shot 2-for-8 (25.0) behind the arc tonight, hold a commanding 70-29 all-time series lead over the Comets.
