Fast Start Carries Women's Basketball to Thrashing of Scarlet Hawks, 84-46

CHICAGO--Adrian jumped out to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter en route to an 84-46 rout of host Illinois Tech in non-conference women's basketball action at the on Saturday. 

THE BASICS
Final Score: Adrian College 84, Illinois Institute of Technology 46

TOP 'DAWGS
= Adrian had four scorers in double digits led by junior Alivia Kondrath off the bench and classmate Shannon Garvey (3 assists, 3 steals) with 13 points apiece, and senior Ashley Morris, freshman Rylee Campbell added 12 each.

= Morris (5 assists) led the team with eight rebounds as six Bulldogs had at least four. Sophomores Rachel Bucher, Sha'Trice Graves contributed seven and freshman Addison Bergman had a career-best five.

THE OPPOSITION
= Shannon O'Donnell scored a game-high 19 points, including 15-for-19 at the free throw stripe, and pulled down 12 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian shot 56.3 percent on 9-for-16 from the field, while holding Illinois Tech to just 7.7 percent (1-13), to build a commanding 17 point cushion after 10 minutes. For the game, the Bulldogs made 32-for-67 shots (47.8) and limited the Scarlet Hawks to 21.4

= Madison Davis made one of two free throws to open the scoring, but that was the only time the Scarlet Hawks would lead. Garvey and Graves made back-to-back buckets as the Bulldogs never trailed after that.

= Adrian also had advantages in bench scoring (42-6) and points off turnovers (24-6).

= The Bulldogs scored 28 of the 32 points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= The Scarlet Hawks are members of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

= Adrian has won all three meetings (2-0 at IIT) against Illinois Tech by an average score of 83-49.
