Eleventh-Ranked Thunder Rumbles Past Women's Basketball, 87-35

ANGOLA, Ind.--Nationally-ranked Trine shot 55.0 percent from the field and capitalized on 27 Adrian turnovers to defeat the visiting Bulldogs, 87-35, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action on Wednesday.

TOP 'DAWGS
= Junior Alivia Kondrath scored a team-high 13 points.

= Sophomore Sha'Trice Graves led the Bulldogs with six rebounds and two blocked shots.

= Sophomore Rachel Bucher joined Kondrath with two steals.

THE OPPOSITION
= Brandi Dawson led all scorers with 21 points on eight-for-11 field goal shooting, including making both her three-point attempts.

= Katy Steers had game highs of nine assists (against no turnovers) and four steals.

= Kelsy Taylor pulled down a game-best seven rebounds and contributed 13 points.

= Cassidy Williams (17 points) and Shaely Duff (10) also scored in double digits for Trine.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian committed 27 turnovers that Trine turned into 35 points.

= The Thunder made 33 of 60 field goal attempts for 55.0 percent while holding Adrian to a 27.9 clip (12-43).

= Trine also used its depth to wear down the Bulldogs as the Thunder bench accounted for 45 points to nine for Adrian.

= Trine outrebounded Adrian 36 to 26 and dominated the paint scoring, 40-18.

= The Bulldogs hung with the Thunder early as Graves knocked down a short jumper to make the score 6-6 with 5 minutes and 53 seconds left in the opening quarter.

= Adrian was still in striking distance down 16-8 after 10 minutes until Trine took control in the second quarter, going on a 33-8 run to go up 49-16 at halftime. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= With two more blocks tonight, Graves moves past Ann Terpstra (50, in 1999-2000) into second place on the school's single-season list.

= Despite the loss, Adrian still leads Trine in the all-time series, 17-16, but the Thunder have won the last five meetings by an average score of 75-40.

= The 35 points scored by Adrian are a season-low.

= Kondrath, who averages 8.2 points, has scored 10 or more in three of her last four outings.

UP NEXT
= Adrian travels to the Michigan UP to face Finlandia at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hancock for the last non-conference game of the season.
