2017-18 WGCA Scholar All-America Team

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.–Recent Adrian College graduate Elizabeth Barrett (St. Clair, Mich.) has been named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar for the 2017-18 academic year. This marks the second citation in her collegiate career as she is just one of two Bulldogs to earn multiple awards.

A total of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the coaching organization's all-American scholar team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics, with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average.

"I am extremely proud of Elizabeth and all of her accomplishments as a student athlete," state Bulldogs head coach Ryan Williams. "She worked incredibly hard to garner all-American scholar accolades while balancing a difficult pre-med curriculum and a number of extra-curricular activities. Elizabeth is a model of what it means to be a student athlete, as she has taken full advantage of all of the opportunities Adrian had to offer her. Her efforts on and off the golf course are a small part of the accomplishments she achieved as an honor student at Adrian because she is so well rounded.

"She will be attending medical school in the fall at Michigan State University."

As a senior, Barrett carried a 3.88 overall GPA as a biology major and chemistry minor. The three-time Academic All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association selection was second on the Adrian team and 27th in the conference with a 90.8 stroke average in jamboree events.

Williams has mentored all six of the program's WGCA Scholar All-Americans since he took over the helm for the 2013-14 season.
