STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Sophomore Sarah Connelly and the Bulldog Women's Hockey team netted three third period goals and rolled past Wis.-Stevens Point to win 7-3. Connelly scored the first goal in the game to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead then added the first goal of the last period to keep the momentum as the Bulldogs tied a season-high in goals.
With the score tied 2-2 six minutes into the second, sophomore Danielle Smith netted a goal to give the Bulldogs the lead for good. Senior Kelly Salis then added one of her two goals five minutes later to make the score 4-2.
The Bulldogs then had the second Connelly goal in the game at the beginning of the third to make the score 5-3, which later made Pointers pull their goalie late in the game. Sophomore Nina Laurie and Salis both scored empty net goals to make the final 7-3.
Senior Brittany Zeches had a strong performance between the pipes, playing the entire game and stopping 23 shots. This was the fourth straight win for the Bulldogs as they improved to 9-8-2 (7-6-2 NCHA). The two teams will meet again on Sunday, Feb. 5th at 3:30 as the Bulldogs look to pick up another NCHA victory.
