The Adrian College Women's Hockey team won their seventh straight game, 4-0 over Marian (Wis.) to complete the weekend sweep of the Sabers. With the win, Adrian improves their record to 12-8-2 (10-6-2 NCHA).
Senior Kelly Salis scored the first goal for the Bulldogs, and her seventh of the season, coming six minutes into the first period on a power play. Freshman Hannah McGowan got the assist on the Salis goal, then went on to score one herself a minute and a half later from Salis. This was McGowan's 12th goal of the year and her fourth straight game with a goal.
The Bulldogs scored one goal each in the second and third periods as sophomore Nina Laurie netted her eighth goal of the season from sophomore Alix Vallee. Later on, sophomore Sarah Connelly scored her seventh goal of the year with eight seconds left in the game, unassisted.
Marian was out-shot by the Bulldogs 33-8, which made it another shutout for goalie Brittany Zeches. The senior Zeches improved her record on the year to 8-3-1, as she saved all eight shots from the Sabers.
The win sets up a match-up next weekend against Lake Forest as the Bulldogs will try to continue the current seven-game win streak. The Foresters come into the series with a record of 13-7-2 (12-5-1 NCHA). The puck will drop on Friday at 7 pm, and Saturday at 2 pm from Arrington Ice Arena.
