HOW IT HAPPENED

The first period saw a flurry of action, with four goals being scored in total. Adrian opened the scoring 8:26 into the game when junior forward Brianna Buchanan found the back of the net. Senior captain Tory Harshman played the puck down low into the St. Norbert zone where junior forward Jacqueline White came up with it. She beat her defender and found Buchanan wide open in front of the net for the goal. The Bulldogs doubled their lead three minutes later when freshman defenseman Julia Barrett scored on a shot through traffic from the point. Her defensive partner Rylee Bates took a shot from the other point that missed the net. The puck was picked up by freshman forward Annalise Andrews, who found Barrett at the point for the shot.

St. Norbert got one back on the power play with 4:34 remaining but the Bulldogs scored a power play goal of their own with 1:44 remaining in the opening period to restore the two-goal lead. Adrian was controlling play in the Green Knights' zone when a shot was blocked and threatened to leave the zone. Senior defenseman Shelly Czarnowczan was able to lunge toward the line and kept the puck in the blue paint to stay onside. She found junior Maggie Mitter coming up the middle off a line change. Mitter found White waiting on the back door and White put the puck top-shelf to close out the scoring in the first period, with Adrian taking a 3-1 lead into the break.

There wasn't any scoring in the middle frame but the Black and Gold added another goal 6:33 into the final period when Harshman scored her third goal of the weekend. Andrews turned and fired a loose puck towards the net that was deflected into the corner. Sophomore forward Brooke Schembri came up with the puck and found Harshman in front of the net for the goal. St. Norbert would get another one back on a two-on-one two minutes later but that would be the final scoring entry of the game, with Adrian winning the game 4-2.

Adrian dominated the faceoff circle in this one, winning 49 of 58 draws in the game. Freshman Jessica VonRuden went a perfect 13-for-13, while senior Kortney Diaz won 23 and Harshman came away victorious 11 times.
