SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Adrian College women's lacrosse team took on Denison Saturday afternoon as the teams met at Sewanee College. The Big Red took the early lead on the Bulldogs as they jumped out to a 10-6 halftime lead. Denison kept this momentum into the second half as they outscored Adrian 13-6 in the half and dropped the Bulldogs, 23-12.
The first half saw the Big Red jump out to an early 2-0 lead just 2:11 into the game. Denison would continue to match the scoring of the Bulldogs as Adrian would not be able to come within two goals of the Big Red. Denison slowly added to its lead as they left the Bulldogs looking up at 10-6 halftime deficit. The first half saw goals two goals from both Maddie Dugan and Hannah Early and both Briana Plester and Christina Campbell added one.
The second half saw Denison add to its lead as the Big Red scored the first four goals of the half as the Bulldogs found themselves down 14-6 with 26:22 remaining. The Bulldogs would surrender another four-goal run by the Big Red as Denison would take control, 19-8, with 17:34 remaining. Adrian would continue to battle for the second thirty minutes as they scored six goals. Plester would add two more goals plus an assist and Early and Campbell would score another. Michelle Sandlin and TaShina Salas would score their first of the game as they added to the Adrian attack. This offensive presence would prove to be not enough as Denison took the Bulldogs out, 23-12, and Adrian fell to 1-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs will play again Wednesday, March 12 when the host Oberlin at 7:00 PM.
