GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College women's lacrosse team travelled to take on Calvin College at East Grand Rapids High School Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs remained perfect in MIAA action in 2014 as they overcame an early 3-1 Knight lead to take down Calvin, 17-6. This improves the Bulldogs overall record to 4-5 and advances them to 2-0 in the MIAA.
The Bulldogs fell behind early as Calvin jumped out to a 3-1 lead 6:59 in the game. Adrian responded as they took over the game by scoring nine goals over the remainder of the first half while allowing the Knights to score just one. Hannah Early scored four first half goals while Brianna Plester added three. Christine Campbell, TaShina Salas and Maddie Dugan each scored one in the first half to add to the Adrian attack as the Bulldogs led at the break, 10-4.
The second half saw the Bulldogs remain in control as the outscored Calvin 7-2 for the half. Early scored three more times while Salas and Dugan each added two goals to highlight the Adrian scoring in the second half and allowed the Bulldogs to roll to a 17-6 win.
Jul Tehovnik (4-5) made the start in goal for Adrian as she made seven saves.
Hannah Early scored seven goals and recorded five ground balls. TaShina Salas scored three goals, recorded four ground balls, added six draw controls and caused two turnovers. Brianna Plester scored three goals, added two assists, and totaled three ground balls and five draw controls.
The Bulldogs will see action again Tuesday, April 8 when they host Kalamazoo at 7 p.m.
