Dungey Makes 15 Stops in Home Loss to Hope

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on Hope College Tuesday night in their third MIAA matchup of the season. The Bulldogs trailed 5-1 at the half before they tallied four second half goals. The Flying Dutch would add to their lead in the second half as they outscored Adrian, 7-4, and took down the Bulldogs 12-5. Adrian now stands at 0-7 overall with a 0-3 mark in the MIAA.

Adrian surrendered the first three goals of the game as Hope carried the 3-0 lead until the 23:20 mark when Michelle Sandlin tallied her 10th goal of the season. The Flying Dutch would tally two more goals to carry a 5-1 lead at the break.

The second half saw Hope score the first goal before Alex Branum cut the deficit to 6-2. The Flying Dutch added to their lead following the goal by Branum as they recorded the next four goals of the game. Adrian goal keeper Alison Dungey would fight to keep Adrian in the game as she tallied 15 saves, caused one turnover, and recorded two ground balls. Meghan VanZyl and Branum led the defense as they would combine for 17 ground balls and four caused turnovers. The Bulldog offense responded as Megan Benoist scored her first career goal from Annika Nuler and Nuler followed with a goal on a free position shot. Adrian would see one more goal from Sandlin, but the Flying Dutch would remain out of reach.
