Women's Volleyball Sees Season End in MIAA First Round to Alma, 3-1

ALMA, Mich. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team's season ended in a 3-1 loss to Alma in the First Round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Postseason Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

THE BASICS

Final Score: #3 Alma 3, #6 Adrian 1 (25-12, 25-16, 21-25, 25-10)

Location: Alma, Mich. (Art Smith Arena)

Records: Adrian 9-16 (2-6 MIAA), Alma 19-7 (6-2 MIAA)

HOW IT HAPPENED

It was all Alma in the first set, as the Scots were able to rattle off 12 straight points on the way to a 25-12 set victory.

Adrian jumped out to an early lead in the second set but couldn't hold on as Alma won 16 of the last 19 points in the set to come back and take the set 25-16.

The Black and Gold jumped out to another early lead and this time were able to hold on, never trailing in the set on the way to a 25-21 set win to make the match 2-1.

Alma was determined not to let the set go to a decisive fifth set, and took control of set four from start to finish, winning the set 25-10 and the match 3-1.

TOP DOGS

• Senior Olivia Welch led the Bulldogs in kills and digs in her final match with 10 kills and 23 digs.

• Sophomore Liz Susitko led Adrian in assists with 22 and contributed 14 digs.

THE OPPOSITION

• Sara Majerle led the Alma offense and defense, with 11 kills and 17 digs.

• Haley Novak led the Scots in assists with 28.
