ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College bass fishing team will conduct its first-ever camp for anglers of all ages (must be at least 7) next month on Devils Lake at Manitou Beach.
There will be two camps on consecutive days on Saturday, Sep. 17, and Sunday, Sep. 18, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting from the lake's public boat launch. There are 30 spots available on each day and the cost is only $75 per camper per day. Registration closes on Monday, Sep. 5. Checks may be payable to Head Coach Seth Borton and mailed to Adrian College, Attention: Seth Borton/Bass Fishing Office, 110 South Madison Street, Adrian, Mich. 49221.
"The goal of the camp is to try and meet each camper at their skill level and create an environment for each of them to take it to the next level," Borton said. "There has been such engagement, support and interest surrounding our team by the local community, that establishing a first-of-its-kind camp in the area was the next logical step.
"The camp will help generate growth and exposure as well as create a great learning environment for the sport of fishing and the College," he said.
"Campers will be grouped based on age, experience, knowledge, and each segment will be geared accordingly."
The format of the camp will be three in-depth, one-hour sessions involving (1) knots/ rigging (2) casting/tuning reels/proper technique and (3) on-the-water application. Each day will conclude with a four-hour tournament where all campers will have the chance to compete against each other for prizes, gift cards, gear and bragging rights.
The registration cost also includes lunch provided, AC bass team T-shirt, sponsored items and a Meet & Greet with Bulldogs team members and Coach Borton.
