ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team dropped a close one in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) home-opener, falling to Albion 76-66 on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Final Score: Albion 76, Adrian 66

Location: Adrian, Mich. (Merillat Sport and Fitness Center)

It was an entertaining first half, with the Bulldogs holding the lead for the majority of the opening period. Junior forward Jeremy Kalonji led Adrian with 10 points in the opening 20. Sophomore guard Sam Colbert added nine points in the first half, all coming from behind the arc. Sophomore guard Jordan Harris provided two huge blocks, one in the lane and the other on a look from deep, to spark some energy for the Bulldogs and get the home crowd into the game in the season's conference opener. Albion took the lead with 2:24 remaining and the teams traded points until the buzzer, with the Britons coming away with a slim 36-35 advantage at the break.

Albion held its lead for most of the second half, but Adrian battled back and tied it up halfway through the second half. The Bulldogs were able to create a five-point shortly later before the Britons were able to take the lead back with under two minutes to go. AC wouldn't be able to overcome the late deficit as Albion held on and hit late-game free throws to win 76-66. The whole game was tightly contested, with there were six ties and twelve lead changes in the contest.

• Kalonji led the Bulldogs' offense with 18 points.

• Harris finished with 11 points and 10 assists, earning the sophomore his first double-double. His 10 assists are also a career high.

• Colbert contributed 15 points, all from deep balls.

• ArShawn Parker and Jamezell Davis Jr. led Albion with 24 and 19 points respectively.

• Caden Ebeling controlled the boards for the Britons, collecting 11 rebounds in the game.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 9 when the Trine Thunder come to town for an MIAA matchup. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
