APPLETON, Wis.--The Adrian College men's hockey team scored three goals in the second period to cruise to a 5-1 victory Friday evening at Lawrence in the 2017-18 season opener for both Northern Collegiate Hockey Association squads. More details to come later...

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian took a 1-0 lead going into the second period when it scored three goals in a minute and 48 second span to take control 4-0 by the midway point. McCloy made it 2-0 on the power play at the 8:03 mark before senior right wing Austin Rust scored 48 seconds later on feeds from junior Cameron Cooper and sophomore Dino Balsamo. Then at the 9:51 mark into the stanza, junior transfer Nick Erb (Concordia University at Wisconsin) registered his first goal in his AC debut on assists from juniors Bryan Yim and Connor Armour.
= Senior captain Mathew Thompson staked the Bulldogs to a 1-0 lead on the power play with a goal in the final four seconds of the opening period. He was assisted by Dunn and sophomore Vincent Paquette.
= The Bulldogs went 2-for-6 with the man-advantage and their penalty killing unit went 3-for-3.
= Adrian was credited outshooting Lawrence by a 31 to 18 count.
= McCloy wrapped up the scoring with his second goal of the game on assists from Brothers and sophomore Matt McNair under two minutes remaining.

= Adrian moves to 2-2 in season openers under Coach Adam Krug and 8-2-1 in the program's 11-year NCAA history.
= The Bulldogs have never lost to the Vikings in 24 all-time meetings (21-0-3), including a 9-0-2 road ledger.
