HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither team was able to score a goal in the first half, despite each side having chances. Hope's best chances came off back-to-back corner kicks, but the Bulldogs' backline held strong and kept the Flying Dutchmen out. On the other end, Adrian had a chance when senior Zachary Roller took the ball up the left wing and found junior Garrett Miller on the penalty spot, but Miller's shot was corralled by the keeper. The Bulldogs had a chance later on when Hope misplayed a pass back to the keeper where Grant Perrine was able to cause some havoc but could not get a shot on goal.
The second half was all Hope, with the Flying Dutchmen able to open the scoring in the 48th minute with a quick turn around shot from inside the box. They doubled their lead in the 54th minute when the ball popped free after a scrum inside the box and found its way into the back of the Bulldogs' net. Hope scored again five minutes later off of a corner kick and took advantage of an Adrian mistake on the backline to make it 4-0 in the 68th minute.
The Bulldogs were able to get one back in the 79th minute when Roller found the back of the net from the penalty spot. Roller picked up the ball in Adrian's zone and took it up the field himself before being fouled in the box leading to the penalty kick.
• Roller scored the Bulldogs' lone goal of the match, his fourth goal in his last three matches.
• Logan Bylsma, Christian Dault, and Steve Binning all scored for Hope, with Bylsma scoring twice.
• Isaac Braak picked up an assist for the Flying Dutchmen
The Bulldogs return home to host a semifinal match in the MIAA Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The start time and opponent will be decided after the First Round on Saturday, Oct. 27.
