ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's soccer team shows no signs of slowing down, now on a six-game win streak after defeating Rochester University (Mich.) on Wednesday evening in a battle between mentor and mentee.
Final Score: Adrian 1, Rochester 0
Location: Adrian, Mich. (Kapnick Field)
Records: Adrian 6-0-0, Rochester 1-3-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
The contest got off to a very slow start with the opening half seeing no scoring. Despite the lack of stats, it appeared that the Warriors had the upper hand, spending most of the 45 minutes on the offensive.
Half number two read a different story as the Bulldogs took charge, recording the game-winning goal 11 minutes in. The goal was scored by Dylan Wismont who redirected a Robbie Precious free kick with a header. Wismont continues to lead the goal count four Adrian, doubling-up his next closest teammate (4).
The Warriors turned up the heat in the final three minutes, looking to even the score and send the game into overtime, pairing a throw in in the offensive zone with a well-placed header. Spencer Brown was able to come up big and save his fifth shutout of the season with a diving stop.
Adrian attempted to add an insurance tally to the board as Wismont found himself one-on-one with the goalie, with a shot that ricocheted off the post, but was called offside in the process.
With a last ditch attempt Rochester found itself in scoring position with less than 20 seconds on the board, but blew its chance as it fouled an AC player and ended the game.
- Freshman Dylan Wismont with his game-winning fourth goal of the season.
- Robbie Precious with his help on the Bulldogs' goal.
- Senior goalie Spencer Brown with his fourth shutout of the season as he is now 6-0-0 on the season. He recorded five saves.
The Bulldogs remain at home for a busy homecoming weekend, hosting Case Western Reserve University at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
