ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's tennis team won its second match in a row and fourth of its last five with a 9-0 beating of Alma College on Wednesday, April 13.  This is the second time this year the Black and Gold have shutout an opponent, with the first coming against Wentworth while in Florida on spring break.

Adrian's first point of the night came from two doubles, where junior Kyle Haines and sophomore Ronald Ducharme blanked their opponents, 8-0. Junior Nolan Duda and freshman Cameron Rafinski picked up an 8-4 win at three doubles and the junior duo of Tanner Wilcox and Nathan Waterbury won 8-3 at the top flight to give AC the sweep in doubles action, just the second time the Bulldogs have been able to accomplish that feat.

Sophomore Jovanni Wagner-Payne picked up the Black and Gold's first win in singles play with a 6-4, 6-2 win at the five spot and Haines secured the match with an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory at the four spot. Rafinski cruised to a pair of 6-1 set wins to take the match at the three spot and Wilcox won 6-2, 6-0 in the second flight. The Scots put up a fight at the bookend singles spots, with freshman Gabriel Peacock picking up a 6-1, 7-5 win at the six spot and Waterbury grinding out a 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 win at the top spot to complete the sweep. This is the third time the Bulldogs have taken all six singles matches, joining the Wentworth match and the MIAA opening match against Trine on March 29, a 7-2 victory for the Black and Gold.

Adrian has two matches this weekend and first hits the road to face Kalamazoo on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs then return home to host Olivet on Sunday, with the women's teams from the two schools playing at the same time at home. Sunday's match is scheduled for 12 p.m.
