ADRIAN, Mich.--Sophomore Rachel Bucher scored a season-high 12 points, and sophomore Sha'Trice Graves and freshman Addison Bergman each grabbed 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Adrian women's basketball team lost to visiting Calvin, 59-51, in a hard-fought Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest on Wednesday.

= Bucher went 6-for-10 from the field and added four rebounds and three assists.
= Graves also upped her NCAA-leading blocked shots total to 48 with three on the night.
= Bergman also pitched in a career-best nine points in addition to her personal watermark for rebounds.
= Freshman Rylee Campbell (5 points) led all student-athletes with three steals, tied for game-high honors with three assists and had three rebounds.
= Gabby Timmer posted game highs of 21 points and 16 rebounds to pace Calvin.
= Rachel Warners also scored in double digits with 10 points, including 8-for-8 at the free throw line, and had four rebounds and steals.
= Baylee GalanBrowne (5 points) and Becca Richards (4) tied Timmer for the game lead with three assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
= Calvin extended its 27-22 halftime lead to 14 points (44-30) after a pair of Kara Minderhoud (8 points) free throws with 1 minute and 55 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Timmer spurred the Knights by scoring six of the team's 19 points in the stanza and also pulled down five rebounds during that time.
= However, Adrian fought back and clawed to within 50-45 after Campbell's jumpshot with 4:34 left in the game. The Bulldogs got nice balance with six players contributing to a 15-6 run over a span of more than seven minutes.
= The Knights responded with a mini-run to go back up by nine, 54-45 at 2:49, after two Warners free throws and a lay-in by Timmer.
= But the Bulldogs continued to fight back and got within four points this time at 55-51 after two free throws from junior Alivia Kondrath (8 points) with 50 seconds left.
= Calvin sealed the win with 4-for-4 free throws coupled with Adrian missing its final two field goal attempts and having one turnover.
= Adrian led early on 7-2 midway through the first quarter.
= The Bulldogs controlled the boards (44-36) and shot slightly better from the field (36.8 to 32.8 percent), but Calvin made five more free throws (17) than the Bulldogs attempted (12).
= The Knights scored 18 points off 23 Adrian turnovers, while the Bulldogs stayed in the contest by working the glass and outscoring Calvin 18-10 on second-chance points.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= In conjunction with the MIAA, Adrian partnered with the Prostate Cancer Understanding Prevention and Screenings (P.C.U.P.S.) Foundation to sponsor education and raise money against the disease. = Graves lists third on the school's single-season blocks list behind Ann Terpstra, who had 50 in 1999-2000, and record-holder Terpstra who swatted 64 in 1997-98.
= With 78 blocks in her career, Graves also broke a third-place tie with Joanne Isaacson (75, from 1988-89, '90-92) on the Bulldogs all-time chart. Next up is No. 2 Tricia Clark, who had 102 from 1993-97.
= The Knights now lead the all-time series, 91-26, that includes a current 21-game win streak against the Bulldogs.
= Adrian continues the MIAA slate on Saturday at Albion, starting at 3 p.m.
