Strong Second Half Pushes Bulldogs Past Comets, 81-68

OLIVET, Mich.--Junior Sha'Trice Graves and sophomore Addison Bergman both recorded double-doubles, and sophomore Rylee Campbell scored a team-high 19 points, as Adrian used a strong second half to turn back host Olivet, 81-68, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball play on Wednesday evening.

Final Score: Adrian College 81, Olivet College 68

Records: Adrian Bulldogs, 9-13 overall (3-10 MIAA); Olivet Comets, 4-19 overall (1-13 MIAA)

= Campbell went 7-for-13 from the field and chipped in three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

= Bergman scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

= Graves tallied 16 points and grabbed a game-best 13 rebounds while becoming the school's all-time blocked shots leader.

= Junior Rachel Bucher (5 points) helped AC control the glass with a season-high 12 rebounds and tied senior teammate Alivia Kondrath with a game-best three assists.

= Sophomore Chelsea Palmer came off the bench to net 15 points on 5-for-9 field goal shooting, four rebounds and two steals.

= Classmate Alexis Sillman produced a career-high eight points off the bench.

= DeeDee Post scored a game-high 26 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the field and 7-for-8 at the free throw stripe. She added a team-high eight rebounds with two assists and two steals.

= Hannah Brown contributed 16 points, including four treys.      

= Adrian outmuscled Olivet on the boards, 48 rebounds to 26, and won the paint by outscoring the hosts 54-30 inside the key.

= The Bulldogs shot 45.5 percent (30-66) while the Comets were 39.0 percent (23-59).

= The visitors took control in the third quarter when they outscored the home team 23-17 to open up a 58-53 advantage going into the fourth. Bergman keyed the rally with nine points in the third.

= Adrian took the lead for good, 49-47, on a Bucher layup with 3 minutes and 28 seconds left in the third quarter. 

= Then Adrian eventually built the lead up to nine points before Olivet got to within three points on a few occasions. The Bulldogs wore the Comets down in the fourth, when they led by double-digits for the final 4 minutes.

= Olivet had the lead at halftime, 36-35. The Comets' largest lead of the contest was five points with 1:39 left in the first half when Amari Brown made a jumpshot to make it 36-31. But Sillman made the Bulldogs' final four points on a free throw and 3ball before going into the locker room down by a point.

= Adrian led 18-17 after 10 minutes. 

= There were six ties and six lead changes in the exciting first half.

= Adrian sweeps the season series from Olivet, increasing its all-time series lead to 73-30. The Bulldogs are 33-14 lifetime at Olivet.

= Graves surpasses Ann Terpstra (153, 1996-2000) with 154 career blocks in AC program history. She ranks second in the MIAA with 50 this season, and she is ranked 22nd on the ACTIVE career leaders in NCAA Division III.

= Graves also tops the conference with 10.4 rebounds per game, leading the field by +1.2.

= The Bulldogs are 3-0 when scoring 80-plus points in a game, and have won their last 15 games in such instances.

= Adrian travels to Angola, Ind., on Saturday for a MIAA matinee against Trine. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
