LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The fourth-ranked Adrian College women's hockey team tied with Lake Forest 2-2 on Saturday, Jan. 26 to avoid being swept in conference play since Lake Forest did just that in the 2012-13 season.

THE BASICS

Final Score: #4 Adrian 2, Lake Forest 2,

Location: Lake Forest, Ill. (Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse)

Records: Adrian 14-4-1 (10-1-1 NCHA), Lake Forest 10-4-5 (7-1-4 NCHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian opened the scoring late in the first period when junior forward Brianna Buchanan found the back of the net with 2:42 remaining in the first. Junior defenseman Kelly O'Sullivan and freshman forward Jessica VonRuden picked up assists on the goal.

The score would remain 1-0 in the Bulldogs' favor until Lake Forest took advantage of an Adrian mistake on the power play and scored a shorthanded goal to knot the game at one 4:51 into the middle frame. The Foresters would take the lead 8:27 into the third and threatened to win the game and sweep the Bulldogs out of the building.

Senior defenseman Hannah Dalrymple had other ideas and tied the game with 36.3 seconds remaining on the clock. Dalrymple got her own rebound on a shot with the extra attacker as Adrian's net was empty. She didn't miss on the second opportunity and put the puck in the net to send the game into overtime. The Black and Gold only took one shot in the extra period despite having two power plays in overtime.
