HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian started the game off dominating offensively, able to draw a tripping penalty in the fifth minute, putting it a skater up and in scoring position. Despite the advantage, AC was only able to get two real shots off, both blocked on their way to the net.

Less than a minute after the first penalty was cleared, the Cardinals were charged with a too many players discrepancy, giving Adrian another shot, one it would not miss. At 8:20, less than 60 seconds from the start of the power play, they made the board. It all started as Nicole Guargilardo sent a falling pass along the boards to Abbie Grias behind the goal, as she tried for a wraparound shot, but decided to pass it off to Une Bjelland instead. Bjelland took a shot the was stopped, but Grias was able to clean up on the rebound for a one goal advantage.

It was again on the power play when Adrian posted its second goal of the period. Grias was again the goal scorer, receiving the puck from Rylee Bates who was able to capture an aren't Cardinal pass at the blue line and pass it a well-guarded Grias. Despite being posted up, the Woodhaven, Mich. native was able to beat the defenders and the goalie for goal two of the night.

Adrian's final power play goal of the night came in the second period, this time off the stick of Maggie Mitter. Leading up to the goal, Grias left a pass for Brianna Buchanan, who then skated around with a defender before putting a shot toward goal, which was deflected in by Mitter.

Despite a two goal comeback by Saint Mary's, one on a 5-on-3 power play, Adrian was able to remain calm and in control, allowing no other goals.

In goal, sophomore Denisa Jandova collected 21 saves.

The Bulldogs was strong on the power play, going 2-for-5. They also owned a slight advantage in shots (30-23)
