HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian opened the scoring in the eighth minute when freshman McKenna Mahoney was able to put away a rebound. Junior Caroline Fleming sent a cross into the box that bounced off the keeper and found its way to Mahoney to tap in for the goal.

Fleming notched a goal of her own in the 20th minute to make it 2-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. Fleming took a shot and got her own rebound and was able to put it over the keeper's head.

The Black and Gold were able to add to their lead again in the 35th minute when sophomore Mya Oleksiak knocked home her third goal of the year. Fleming had the ball inside the box and passed it over to Oleksiak who was able to use her head to put the ball in the back of the net, giving AC a 3-0 lead heading into the half.

Fleming was able to get her second goal of the night when she scored again in the 62nd minute. She was able to gather the ball from just outside the box and send a long shot in over the keeper to make it 4-0.

Trine was able to get one back in the 69th minute when Adrian was called for a foul in the box giving the Thunder a penalty kick, which they did not miss.

Adrian wasn't done scoring yet, as sophomore Raquel Church was able to net her fourth goal of the season in the 88th minute. She was fed a nice through ball from fellow sophomore Angela Davis and was able to slip the ball past the keeper.

With Adrian's win and Albion tying Calvin later in the day, the Bulldogs have clinched a first-round bye in the MIAA Tournament and will be hosting a semi-final match on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

TOP DOGS

• Mahoney, Fleming, Oleksiak, and Church all scored on the day, with Fleming netting two goals.

• Fleming and Davis both picked up assists, with Fleming tallying two.

• Junior Ayverie Giller and sophomore Kristin Page split time in net.

THE OPPOSITION

• Marisa Robinett scored Trine's lone goal.

• Jillian Rejczyk played the majority of the game in net, making 11 saves for the Thunder.

QUOTABLE

"Trine can be a challenging opponent to break down and they're known for getting one or two big upsets every season, so we were well aware that this was not a matchup to take lightly. Our finishing today was phenomenal and aside from the goals we forced their keeper to make some tough saves all match. Most importantly, it allowed us to have the result in hand early so that we could rotate the squad and avoid having to dig in for a 90-minute nail biter." – Head Coach Ali Alamdari

"We're excited to have secured a first-round bye in the tournament and a semifinal at home. This league is extremely competitive, so to separate from the group and lock it up with a game left to play is a testament to the persistence and commitment within this team." - Alamdari
