Women's Tennis Takes Down St. Francis

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's team picked up its third win of the season with a 6-3 victory over St. Francis (Ind.) on Wednesday, April 3. The match was part of a doubleheader with the men's teams of the two schools, with the Adrian men winning as well, 7-2.

The Bulldogs took two points in doubles play, getting wins at the one and three spots. Juniors Elena Bishop and Makayla Jorgensen sailed to an 8-1 victory in the third flight while the junior duo of Samantha Cyrus and Sara Anthony grinded out an 8-7 victory at the top spot.

Anthony picked up her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 win at two singles. Bishop and Jorgensen also had two wins on the day, getting wins in singles to go along with their doubles wins. Bishop won at the four spot, 6-4, 6-3, and Jorgensen had an easy 6-2, 6-0 victory at five singles. AC's final point came at the six spot, where junior Julia Maltbie dominated her opponent, 6-1, 6-0.

The Bulldogs are back in conference action on Saturday, April 6 when they travel to St. Mary's for a 1 p.m. match.
