Bulldogs Fall to Terriers in Straight Sets

HIRAM, Ohio – The Adrian College women's volleyball team was swept 3-0 by Hiram on Tuesday, Sep. 4.


Final Score: Hiram 3, Adrian 0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-20)

Records: Hiram 4-0 (0-0 NCAC), Adrian 1-2 (0-0 MIAA)


Adrian jumped out to an early lead in the first set, but couldn't hang on as Hiram came clawing back with a 10-1 run to take the first set 25-17.

The Terriers continued to have the Bulldogs' number early in the second set, getting out to a 9-2 advantage to start. The Black and Gold were able to cut the deficit to four points, before ultimately dropping the set 25-16.

The third set was the most competitive, with neither squad able to pull away. The point differential was never more than three until the end of the set, when Hiram was able to win the match with a 25-20 third set win.


• Senior Olivia Welch led the team with five kills and added nine digs.

• Sophomores Madison Federmeyer and Grace Welch were tied for second in kills with four each.

• Sophomore Liz Susitko set the pace with 11 assists, and sophomore Karlee Techentin led the team in digs with 12.


• Kayla Cole led the Hiram offense with 10 kills and three service aces.

• Holly Hoffman led the Terriers with 31 assists and digs with 12.


Adrian heads to Hope College for the MIAA Preview Tournament this weekend. The Bulldogs will face Albion and Hope on Friday, and Finlandia and Kalamazoo on Saturday.
