Women's Volleyball Falls to Top-Ranked Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team fell to the top-ranked Knights of Calvin College 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in MIAA action.

THE BASICS

Final Score: No. 1 Calvin 3, Adrian 0 (25-23, 25-8, 25-12)

Location: Grand Rapids, Mich. (Van Noord Arena)

Records: Adrian 9-13 (2-4 MIAA), Calvin 20-1 (6-0 MIAA)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian was able to take the lead early in the first set and was leading Calvin throughout most of the set. The Bulldogs were only four points away from winning the set when the Knights went on an 8-4 run to come back and take the opening set 25-23.

The second set was all Calvin as the Knights hit at a whopping .429 on the way to a 25-8 set win.

It would be a similar third set, as the Bulldogs were only able to get 12 points in the final set for a 25-12 set loss, where Calvin hit at a high rate again, this time .333.

TOP DOGS

• Sophomores Alex Tobler and Madison Federmeyer lead the Bulldogs' offense with four kills each.

• Sophomore Liz Susitko lead Adrian in assists with eight.

• Junior Megan Prsa led the Black and Gold's defense with seven digs.

THE OPPOSITION

• Anna Kamp led the Calvin offense with 14 kills.

• Ellie Westrate led the Knights in assists with 14.

• The Calvin defense was led by Kamp and Grace Kellog with six digs and Sarah DeVries with four total blocks.

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs return home to host No. 13 Hope for senior night on Wednesday, Oct. 24. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
